Ingredients

  • Gram flour (besan) - 100 grams
  • Yogurt - 50 grams
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Eno fruit salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Coriander leaves - 1 tablespoon, chopped
  • Cucumber - 1/2, thinly sliced
  • Tomato - 1/2, thinly sliced
  • Onion - 1/2, thinly sliced
  • Green chutney - 2 tablespoons
  • Sweet tamarind chutney - 2 tablespoons
  • Butter - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine gram flour, yogurt, water, turmeric powder, and salt to form a smooth batter.
  2. Add chopped green chili, grated ginger, and chopped coriander leaves to the batter and mix well.
  3. Grease a steaming tray or dish and pour the batter into it. Add the Eno fruit salt just before steaming and mix gently.
  4. Steam the batter for 15-20 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  5. Once cooked, let the dhokla cool for a few minutes and then cut it into square pieces.
  6. Take one piece of dhokla, spread a layer of green chutney and sweet tamarind chutney on top.
  7. Layer with cucumber, tomato, and onion slices over the chutneys.
  8. Place another piece of dhokla on top to form a sandwich.
  9. Repeat the process for the second sandwich.
  10. Heat butter in a pan and lightly toast both sides of the dhokla sandwiches until golden brown.
  11. Serve warm with extra chutney and enjoy!
