- Besan (chickpea flour) - 100 grams
- Curd (yogurt) - 50 grams
- Water - 100 ml
- Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Green chili (finely chopped) - 1
- Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander leaves (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Coconut (grated, unsweetened) - 2 tablespoons
- Oil - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine besan, curd, water, baking soda, turmeric powder, green chili, ginger, coriander leaves, and salt. Mix well to form a smooth batter.
- Let the batter rest for 10 minutes.
- Grease a steaming tray or plate with a little oil. Pour the batter into the tray and spread it evenly.
- In a steamer, place the tray and steam for 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Once cooked, let it cool for a few minutes and then cut into bite-sized pieces.
- In a small pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add sesame seeds and pour this tempering over the dhokla bites.
- Garnish with grated coconut and serve warm or at room temperature.
