  • Kidney beans (rajma) - 50 grams
  • Water - 1.5 liters
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomatoes - 2 medium, pureed
  • Ginger - 1 inch, grated
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Green chili - 1, slit
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Coriander leaves - for garnish

  • Non-dairy cream (coconut or cashew) - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. Soak the black lentils and kidney beans in water for at least 6-8 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain and rinse the lentils and beans, then add them to a pressure cooker with 1.5 liters of fresh water and a little salt. Cook for about 20-25 minutes until soft.
  3. In a large pan, heat the cooking oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
  4. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
