Ingredients

  • Split yellow moong dal - 100 grams
  • Cucumber - 1 small, diced
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Red onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 500 milliliters

Steps

  1. Rinse the split yellow moong dal under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 15 minutes.
  2. In a pot, add the soaked dal and 500 milliliters of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes until the dal is tender but not mushy.
  3. Drain any excess water from the dal and let it cool to room temperature.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the diced cucumber, tomato, and red onion.
  5. Add the cooled dal to the vegetable mixture.
  6. Stir in the chopped coriander leaves, green chili, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and olive oil. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
  7. Serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to enhance flavors.
