- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Oil - 2 tablespoons (for frying)
Steps
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked lentils and cooked basmati rice. Mash them lightly with a fork until just combined.
- Add the chopped onion, green chili, ginger, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, garam masala, chopped coriander, and salt to the mixture. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, take a portion of the mixture and shape it into small patties or fritters.
- Carefully place the patties in the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fritters from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with yogurt or chutney as a side dish.
