Ingredients

  • Fresh clams - 500 grams
  • Coconut milk - 200 ml
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece, grated
  • Green chili - 1, slit
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Rinse the clams under cold water to remove any sand or debris, and set aside.
  2. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat and add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing until fragrant.
  3. Add the slit green chili, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder to the pot, stirring for another minute.
  4. Pour in the coconut milk and bring to a gentle simmer, allowing the spices to infuse the milk for about 5 minutes.
  5. Add the rinsed clams to the pot and cover with a lid, cooking for 8-10 minutes or until the clams have opened up.
  6. Once done, remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice and chopped cilantro.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with additional cilantro if desired, and enjoy.
