Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour - 100 grams
  • Jaggery (grated) - 50 grams
  • Ghee (or coconut oil for vegan) - 2 tablespoons
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chopped mixed nuts (almonds, cashews) - 30 grams
  • Water - 1/4 cup

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, add the whole wheat flour and 1 tablespoon of ghee (or coconut oil). Mix well until the flour resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Gradually add water, a little at a time, to knead the flour into a soft dough. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  3. Preheat a non-stick pan or tawa over medium heat. Divide the dough into small balls and flatten each ball into a small disc.
  4. Cook each disc on the hot pan for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and let them cool.
  5. Once cooled, crumble the discs into a coarse powder in a mixing bowl.
  6. In a separate pan, heat the remaining tablespoon of ghee (or coconut oil) and add the chopped nuts. Sauté until they are lightly toasted.
  7. Add the crumbled dough to the pan along with the grated jaggery and cardamom powder. Mix well on low heat until the jaggery melts and coats the flour mixture evenly.
  8. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving.
