Ingredients

  • Almond milk - 250 ml
  • Rice flour - 100 g
  • Sugar - 100 g
  • Coconut flakes - 50 g
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Saffron strands - a pinch
  • Water - 500 ml
  • Rose water - 1 tsp

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, baking powder, and cardamom powder. Gradually add almond milk and knead to form a smooth dough.
  2. Divide the dough into small equal portions and shape them into small balls. Roll each ball in coconut flakes to coat.
  3. In a saucepan, bring 500 ml of water to a boil. Gently add the coconut-coated balls to the boiling water and cook until they float (about 10 minutes).
  4. In another pan, dissolve sugar in 250 ml of water over medium heat to create a sugar syrup. Add saffron strands and rose water once the sugar is completely dissolved.
  5. Once the balls are cooked, remove them from the water and let them cool slightly before transferring them to the sugar syrup.
  6. Allow the dumplings to soak in the syrup for at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
