Ingredients

  • Chickpeas (cooked) - 200 grams
  • Potatoes (boiled and mashed) - 200 grams
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 1 medium
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Green chili (finely chopped) - 1 small
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh coriander leaves (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste
  • Bread crumbs - 1/4 cup
  • Oil for frying - 2 tablespoons
  • Chaat masala - for garnishing
  • Lemon wedges - for serving

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the boiled and mashed potatoes, cooked chickpeas, chopped onion, ginger-garlic paste, green chili, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, chopped coriander leaves, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  2. Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into a flat round patty, about 1 cm thick. Repeat with the remaining mixture to form all the patties.
  3. Place the bread crumbs in a shallow plate and coat each patty with the crumbs evenly on both sides. This will help achieve a crispy texture when frying.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, gently place the patties in the pan and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  5. Remove the patties from the pan and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with a sprinkle of chaat masala and alongside lemon wedges for an added zing.
