Chole Kulche

Ingredients

  • Chickpeas (cooked) - 200 grams
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 1 medium
  • Tomato (pureed) - 1 medium
  • Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic (minced) - 1 teaspoon
  • Green chili (chopped) - 1 small
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Kulcha bread - 2 pieces
  • Butter - for serving

Steps

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  2. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Stir in the grated ginger, minced garlic, and chopped green chili. Cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
  5. Mix in coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  6. Add the cooked chickpeas and a little water to achieve desired consistency. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. Stir in garam masala and chopped coriander leaves just before serving.
  8. In another pan, heat the kulcha bread on both sides until golden brown. Optionally, spread butter on top.
  9. Serve the chole hot with kulche, garnished with more coriander if desired.
