- Chickpeas (cooked) - 200 grams
- Onion (finely chopped) - 1 medium
- Tomato (chopped) - 1 medium
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
- Green chili (finely chopped) - 1 small
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Fresh cilantro (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Oil - 1 tablespoon
- All-purpose flour - 150 grams
- Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Yogurt - 50 grams
- Water - as needed
- Butter (melted) - 1 tablespoon for brushing
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a pan, heat the oil over medium heat and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and green chili; cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the chopped tomato, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes soften.
- Add the cooked chickpeas and mix well. Sprinkle garam masala and chopped cilantro, and cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Add yogurt and mix well. Gradually add water to form a soft dough. Knead for a few minutes until smooth.
- Roll out the dough into two equal-sized circles (about 5-6 inches in diameter).
- Place half of the chickpea mixture on one half of each dough circle, fold over, and seal the edges.
- Place the filled dough on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with melted butter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then serve hot with yogurt or chutney.
