Ingredients

  • Chickpeas (canned or boiled) - 200 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Green chili - 1, slit lengthwise
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Garlic - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh coriander leaves - for garnish

Steps

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add the grated ginger, minced garlic, and green chili to the pan. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the chopped tomato and cook until it softens, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for another 2 minutes.
  5. Add the chickpeas and mix everything thoroughly. Cook for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala over the top and mix gently. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or bread.
