Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour - 50 grams

  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Warm water - 150 ml
  • Yogurt - 50 grams
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Red chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and yogurt to the flour mixture. Knead until a soft dough forms, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  5. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll each ball into an oval shape, about 1/4-inch thick.
  7. Brush the surface of the naan with olive oil and sprinkle minced garlic, red chili flakes, and chopped cilantro evenly over the top.
  8. Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Place one naan on the skillet, cooking for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and puffed up.
  9. Repeat the process for the remaining dough balls. Serve warm.
