Ingredients

  • Chickpea flour - 100 grams
  • Jaggery (grated) - 75 grams
  • Ghee (clarified butter) - 30 grams
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chopped nuts (almonds and pistachios) - 30 grams
  • Water - 50 ml

Steps

  1. In a non-stick pan, heat the ghee on low flame until melted.
  2. Add the chickpea flour to the melted ghee and roast it on low heat, stirring continuously until it turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma (about 10-12 minutes).
  3. In a separate saucepan, combine the grated jaggery and water. Heat gently until the jaggery dissolves completely, then bring it to a boil for 2-3 minutes to form a syrup.
  4. Pour the jaggery syrup into the roasted chickpea flour mixture, and add the cardamom powder. Mix well until everything is combined, and the mixture thickens (about 5 minutes).
  5. Remove the mixture from heat and stir in the chopped nuts.
  6. Grease a plate or tray with a little ghee and spread the mixture evenly, pressing it down with a spatula to form a flat layer.
  7. Allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes, then cut into squares or diamond shapes.
