Ingredients

  • Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Urad dal (split black gram) - 1 tablespoon
  • Curry leaves - 10 leaves
  • Green chili - 1, chopped
  • Grated coconut - 2 tablespoons
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil (coconut or vegetable) - 1 tablespoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Coriander leaves - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a pan, heat the oil over medium heat.
  2. Add mustard seeds and wait for them to splutter.
  3. Stir in the urad dal and sauté until it turns golden brown.
  4. Add the curry leaves and chopped green chili, cooking for another minute.
  5. Mix in the cooked chickpeas, turmeric powder, and salt. Stir well to combine and heat through for about 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the grated coconut and lemon juice.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
