- Chana masala spice mix - 1 tablespoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Breadcrumbs (or chickpea flour) - 50 grams
- Oil (for frying) - 3 tablespoons
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, mash the cooked chickpeas and boiled potato until smooth.
- Add finely chopped onion, ginger, garlic, green chili, and cilantro to the mixture.
- Stir in the chana masala spice mix, cumin powder, and salt until well combined.
- Gradually add breadcrumbs (or chickpea flour) to the mixture until it holds together without being overly sticky.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into round patties or tikkis.
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the tikkis in the pan.
- Fry the tikkis for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the tikkis from the pan and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve hot with mint chutney or tamarind sauce.
