- Chana dal (split chickpeas) - 100 grams
- Water - 300 ml
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Oil - for cooking (approximately 2 tablespoons)
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
Steps
- Rinse the chana dal under cold water, then soak it in water for 2-3 hours.
- Drain the soaked chana dal and blend it in a food processor with 300 ml of water to form a smooth batter.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the chana dal batter with grated ginger, chopped green chili, coriander leaves, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a teaspoon of oil.
- Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the skillet, spreading it into a round pancake shape. Top with some chopped onion.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the other side.
- Repeat the process with the remaining batter, adding more oil as needed.
- Serve hot with yogurt or mint chutney.
