Ingredients

  • Cumin seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Coriander seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Dried mango powder (amchur) - 2 teaspoons
  • Black salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Regular salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ajwain seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cardamom pods - 3

Steps

  1. In a dry skillet over medium heat, add the cumin seeds and coriander seeds. Toast them for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
  2. Remove the skillet from heat and let the seeds cool for a few minutes.
  3. Once cooled, transfer the toasted seeds to a spice grinder or mortar and pestle.
  4. Add the dried mango powder, black salt, regular salt, red chili powder, garam masala, black pepper, ajwain seeds, and cardamom pods to the grinder.
  5. Grind all the ingredients together until you achieve a fine powder consistency.
  6. Store the Chaat Masala in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 months.
