Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 300 grams
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Chaat masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Bread crumbs - 1/2 cup
  • Oil - for shallow frying
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Cucumber - 1/2, sliced
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Lettuce - 2 leaves
  • Tamarind chutney - 2 tablespoons
  • Mint chutney - 2 tablespoons
  • Yogurt - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and let them cool, then peel and mash them in a bowl.
  2. Add the chopped onion, green chili, coriander leaves, chaat masala, garam masala, and salt to the mashed potatoes. Mix well to combine.
  3. Form the potato mixture into two equal-sized patties, then coat each patty with bread crumbs on all sides.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Shallow fry the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. While the patties are frying, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on a separate pan if desired.
  6. Assemble the burger: Spread a tablespoon of yogurt on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a lettuce leaf, a potato patty, sliced cucumber, and tomato.
  7. Drizzle tamarind and mint chutney on top, then sprinkle a pinch of chaat masala. Close the burger with the top half of the bun.
  8. Serve immediately with extra chutneys on the side.
