Ingredients

  • Caribou ground meat - 400 grams
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh thyme - 1 tablespoon, chopped
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Portobello mushrooms - 2 large, stems removed
  • Avocado - 1, sliced
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Lettuce leaves - 4

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground caribou meat, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, fresh thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
  2. Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about 2.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  4. While the patties are cooking, grill the portobello mushrooms on a separate grill or skillet for about 3-4 minutes on each side until tender.
  5. To assemble the burgers, place a lettuce leaf on a plate, add a caribou patty, top with grilled portobello mushroom, avocado slices, and tomato slices.
  6. Finish with another lettuce leaf on top and serve immediately.
