Ingredients

  • Cabbage - 250 grams, finely chopped
  • Onion - 1 medium, thinly sliced
  • Tomato - 1 medium, chopped
  • Green chili - 1, slit
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh coriander leaves - for garnish

Steps

  1. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  2. Add the sliced onion and fry until translucent.
  3. Stir in the grated ginger, minced garlic, and green chili. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the chopped tomato and cook until it softens.
  5. Incorporate the turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
  6. Add the chopped cabbage and stir to combine. Cover and cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.
  7. Sprinkle garam masala over the cooked cabbage and mix well. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
