  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Garlic - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped (optional)
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Breadcrumbs - 1/2 cup
  • Egg - 1, beaten
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Onion - 1 small, sliced
  • Cucumber - 1 small, sliced
  • Mint chutney - 2 tablespoons
  • Oil - for frying

Steps

  1. Boil the potatoes until tender, about 15 minutes, then drain and mash them in a bowl.
  2. In a pan, heat a tablespoon of oil and sauté the chopped onion, ginger, garlic, and green chili until soft.
  3. Add the green peas to the pan and cook for another 2-3 minutes, then mix into the mashed potatoes.
  4. Stir in the cilantro, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then form it into two equal patties.
  6. Dip each patty in the beaten egg, then coat with breadcrumbs evenly.
  7. In a frying pan, heat enough oil to shallow fry the patties over medium heat until golden brown on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  8. Toast the burger buns lightly in the same pan or on a grill.
  9. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on each bun base, followed by a patty, tomato slice, onion slice, cucumber slice, and a tablespoon of mint chutney.
  10. Top with the bun lid and serve hot.
