- Bitter gourd - 200 grams
- Rice flour - 2 tablespoons
- Chickpea flour (besan) - 2 tablespoons
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Oil - for frying (or 2 tablespoons for baking)
Steps
- Wash the bitter gourd thoroughly and slice it thinly into circular chips.
- In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, chickpea flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, and salt.
- Add the sliced bitter gourd to the flour mixture and toss until the slices are well coated.
- If frying, heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the coated bitter gourd slices in batches and fry until they turn golden and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- If baking, preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Arrange the coated bitter gourd slices on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and drizzle with a little oil. Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through until crispy.
- Serve the bitter gourd chips warm as a healthy snack or side dish.
