Ingredients
- Bison ground meat - 400 grams
- Red onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coconut oil - 1 tablespoon
- Mint leaves - 1/4 cup, packed
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Green chili - 1, chopped (optional)
- Romaine lettuce leaves - 4, for serving
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the bison ground meat, red onion, garlic, ginger, cilantro, cumin, coriander, turmeric, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Divide the mixture into 2 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
- Heat coconut oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the bison patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
- While the burgers are cooking, prepare the mint chutney by blending mint leaves, lime juice, and green chili (if using) in a food processor until smooth. Add a little water if needed to reach the desired consistency.
- Once the burgers are cooked, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Serve each burger on a romaine lettuce leaf, topped with a dollop of mint chutney.
