Ingredients

  • Bison ground meat - 400 grams
  • Red onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coconut oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Mint leaves - 1/4 cup, packed
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Green chili - 1, chopped (optional)
  • Romaine lettuce leaves - 4, for serving

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the bison ground meat, red onion, garlic, ginger, cilantro, cumin, coriander, turmeric, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into 2 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
  3. Heat coconut oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the bison patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  4. While the burgers are cooking, prepare the mint chutney by blending mint leaves, lime juice, and green chili (if using) in a food processor until smooth. Add a little water if needed to reach the desired consistency.
  5. Once the burgers are cooked, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes.
  6. Serve each burger on a romaine lettuce leaf, topped with a dollop of mint chutney.
