Ingredients
- Whole wheat flour - 1 cup
- Jaggery (grated) - 1/2 cup
- Coconut (grated) - 1/4 cup
- Ginger (grated) - 1 tsp
- Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
- Water - as needed
- Ghee or oil - for frying
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, grated jaggery, grated coconut, grated ginger, and cardamom powder.
- Mix the dry ingredients well and gradually add water to form a soft dough. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Divide the dough into small balls and flatten each ball into a disc, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Heat ghee or oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
- Once hot, carefully add the discs to the oil, frying until they turn golden brown on both sides.
- Remove the Thekua and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
