- Whole wheat flour - 200 grams
- Ghee (clarified butter) - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 100 ml
- Baking soda - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Stuffing: Sattu (roasted gram flour) - 100 grams
- Onion (finely chopped) - 1 medium
- Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
- Green chili (finely chopped) - 1
- Fresh coriander leaves (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Brinjal (eggplant) - 1 medium
- Tomato - 1 medium
- Potato - 1 medium
- Garlic (finely chopped) - 2 cloves
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Mustard oil - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a bowl, mix whole wheat flour, ghee, baking soda, salt, and water to form a soft dough. Let it rest for 20 minutes.
- For the stuffing, mix sattu, chopped onion, grated ginger, green chili, coriander leaves, lemon juice, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Divide the dough into equal portions and flatten each piece into a disc. Place a spoonful of the sattu mixture in the center and seal it, rolling it into a ball.
- Place the balls on a baking tray and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Meanwhile, prepare the chokha by roasting the brinjal, tomato, and potato over an open flame or in the oven until charred. Peel and mash them in a bowl.
- Add chopped garlic, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to the mashed vegetables. Drizzle with mustard oil and mix well.
- Serve the baked littis hot with chokha on the side.
