- Flattened rice (Chura) - 100 grams
- Split yellow moong dal - 50 grams
- Ghee - 2 tablespoons
- Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Chopped green chilies - 1 teaspoon
- Grated ginger - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Water - 300 milliliters
- Chopped coriander leaves - for garnish
- Roasted peanuts - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- Rinse the flattened rice (Chura) under cold water until it softens, then drain and set aside.
- In a pan, dry roast the split yellow moong dal for about 3-4 minutes until it turns slightly golden, then set aside.
- In the same pan, heat ghee over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, allowing them to splutter.
- Add chopped green chilies and grated ginger, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the roasted moong dal to the pan, followed by the softened flattened rice.
- Pour in 300 milliliters of water and salt to taste. Stir well and cook on low heat for 10-12 minutes, until the dal is soft and the mixture is well combined.
- Once cooked, remove from heat and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped coriander leaves and roasted peanuts.
