Ingredients

  • Flattened rice (chura) - 100 grams
  • Mustard oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 1 medium
  • Green chili (slit) - 1
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Coriander leaves (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Boiled potato (diced) - 1 medium
  • Peas (fresh or frozen) - 50 grams
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon

Steps

  1. 1. Rinse the flattened rice (chura) in water and soak it for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. 2. In a pan, heat the mustard oil over medium heat until it shimmers.
  3. 3. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter, then add the chopped onions and green chili. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.
  4. 4. Stir in the turmeric powder and salt, followed by the boiled potatoes and peas. Cook for 3-4 minutes until heated through.
  5. 5. Add the soaked and drained flattened rice to the pan. Mix well to combine all ingredients and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  6. 6. Remove from heat and add lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves. Mix gently.
  7. 7. Serve warm, garnished with additional coriander if desired.
