Ingredients
- Flattened rice (Chura) - 100 grams
- Fish fillets (Basa or similar) - 200 grams
- Rice flour - 50 grams
- Chickpea flour (Besan) - 30 grams
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
- Oil (for frying) - 200 ml
- Fresh coriander leaves - for garnish
- Green chilies - 1, chopped (optional)
Steps
- In a bowl, marinate the fish fillets with ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, lemon juice, and salt. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes.
- While the fish is marinating, rinse the flattened rice in water and soak it for about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, mix rice flour and chickpea flour. Add a little salt and water to make a thick batter.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Dip each marinated fish fillet in the batter, ensuring it’s well-coated.
- Carefully place the battered fish in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- To serve, take a plate and spread the soaked flattened rice, top it with the fried fish fillets. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and green chilies, if using.
- Serve hot, enjoying the crunch of chura with the flavor-packed fish.
