- Asafoetida (Hing) - a pinch
- Turmeric Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red Chili Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Fresh Coriander Leaves (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Green Chilies (finely chopped) - 1
- Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
- Lemon Juice - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Peel and mash the boiled potatoes in a bowl until smooth.
- In a pan, heat mustard oil over medium heat and add cumin seeds, allowing them to splutter.
- Add a pinch of asafoetida, followed by grated ginger and chopped green chilies. Sauté for a minute.
- Add the mashed potatoes to the pan along with turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let the potato mixture cool slightly. Once cooled, form small dumplings from the mixture.
- In a separate bowl, soak the flattened rice (Chura) in water for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened, then drain.
- In a serving dish, layer the soaked Chura and top it with the prepared dumplings.
- Drizzle lemon juice and garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.
