Ingredients
- Bhindi (okra) - 150 grams, finely chopped
- Whole wheat flour - 200 grams
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
- Water - as needed for dough
- Oil - for cooking
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt. Add enough water to knead into a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix the chopped bhindi, onion, green chili, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, and red chili powder.
- Divide the dough into equal portions (about 4 pieces). Roll each piece into a small ball.
- Take one dough ball, flatten it slightly, and place a spoonful of the bhindi mixture in the center. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling to seal it.
- Gently roll the filled dough ball into a flat, round roti, dusting with flour to prevent sticking.
- Heat a skillet or tawa over medium heat. Cook the roti for about 2-3 minutes on each side, brushing with a little oil until golden brown.
- Repeat with the remaining dough and filling. Serve hot with chutney or your favorite side dish.
