Ingredients

  • Okra (Bhindi) - 250 grams
  • Rice flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Besan (Gram flour) - 2 tablespoons
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - for shallow frying
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Wash the okra thoroughly and dry them with a kitchen towel. Trim the tops and tails, and cut them into 1-inch pieces.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the rice flour, besan, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, and salt to create a spice mix.
  3. Add the chopped okra to the spice mix and toss well to ensure the okra is evenly coated with the flour and spices.
  4. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add enough oil for shallow frying.
  5. Once the oil is hot, add the coated okra pieces in a single layer. Fry for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until they become golden and crispy.
  6. Remove the fried okra from the pan and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  7. Drizzle with lemon juice before serving for added flavor. Serve hot with your favorite chutney or yogurt.
