- Okra - 200 grams
- Whole wheat burger buns - 2 units
- Chickpea flour (besan) - 4 tablespoons
- Rice flour - 2 tablespoons
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon (to taste)
- Water - 1/4 cup
- Oil - for frying
- Lettuce leaves - 2 units
- Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
- Onion - 1 small, sliced
- Coriander chutney - 4 tablespoons
Steps
- Wash and dry the okra, then slice them into thin pieces.
- In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, and salt.
- Gradually add water to the dry mixture until you achieve a smooth batter.
- Coat the sliced okra in the batter until well covered.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated okra in batches and fry until crispy and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- While the okra is frying, lightly toast the burger buns on a separate pan until golden.
- Assemble the burger by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of the bun, followed by a generous portion of the fried okra, tomato slices, and onion slices.
- Spread coriander chutney on the top half of the bun, then close the burger.
- Serve hot with extra chutney on the side.
