Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 300 grams
  • Green peas - 50 grams
  • Chickpea flour (besan) - 2 tablespoons
  • Chaat masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh coriander, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - for frying
  • Puffed rice - 1 cup
  • Chopped onion - 1/4 cup
  • Chopped tomato - 1/4 cup
  • Sev (crispy gram flour noodles) - 1/4 cup
  • Tamarind chutney - 2 tablespoons
  • Green chutney - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Boil the potatoes until tender, then peel and mash them in a bowl.
  2. In the same bowl, add green peas, chickpea flour, chaat masala, cumin powder, chopped coriander, and salt. Mix well to form a dough.
  3. Divide the mixture into small portions and shape them into round patties.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the patties until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine puffed rice, chopped onion, chopped tomato, sev, tamarind chutney, green chutney, and lemon juice. Mix well.
  6. To serve, place a bhel mixture on a plate and top it with 2-3 potato patties. Garnish with additional sev and coriander if desired.
