- water - 3/4 cup
- turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- bell pepper (chopped) - 1/2 cup
- onion (chopped) - 1/4 cup
- tomato (chopped) - 1/2 cup
- mozzarella cheese (grated) - 1/2 cup
- fresh basil leaves - a handful
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine besan, water, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, and cumin powder to form a smooth batter.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
- Pour half of the batter into the skillet, spreading it evenly to form a round pancake. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
- Flip the chilla and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside. Repeat with the remaining batter to make a second chilla.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and sauté the chopped onion, bell pepper, and tomato for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.
- Place the first chilla back in the skillet, top it with the sautéed vegetables, and sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese on top.
- Allow it to cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.
- Repeat the process for the second chilla. Garnish both chillas with fresh basil leaves before serving.
