- Onion (finely chopped) - 1 small
- Tomato (finely chopped) - 1 small
- Green chili (finely chopped) - 1 small
- Coriander leaves (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Oil - 2 tablespoons for cooking
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the besan, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin seeds, and salt.
- Gradually add water to the dry ingredients while whisking to avoid lumps, creating a smooth batter.
- Add the chopped onion, tomato, green chili, and coriander leaves to the batter and mix well.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or tawa over medium heat and add 1/2 tablespoon of oil.
- Pour a ladleful of batter onto the skillet and spread it into a circle, about 6 inches in diameter.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the edges start to lift and the bottom is golden brown.
- Drizzle a little oil on the edges and flip the chilla; cook for another 2-3 minutes until both sides are golden and cooked through.
- Repeat the process for the remaining batter, adding more oil as needed.
- Serve hot with green chutney or yogurt.
