- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped (optional)
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Bread crumbs - 2 tablespoons (optional, for binding)
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Rinse the red lentils under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak them in water for 15-20 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Drain the lentils and transfer them to a mixing bowl. Add the chopped onion, grated carrot, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped cilantro, and green chili.
- In the bowl, add cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, black pepper, olive oil, and lemon juice. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
- If the mixture feels too wet, add bread crumbs to help bind the patties together.
- Shape the mixture into small patties, about 2-3 cm thick, and place them on the prepared baking tray.
- Brush the tops lightly with olive oil for a crispier texture.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the patties are golden brown and firm.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
