Ingredients

  • Chickpeas (cooked) - 200 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 large, pureed
  • Green chili - 1, slit
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Kadai masala (or garam masala) - 1 tablespoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Baking dish - 1 (medium-sized)

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a pan, heat oil over medium heat, add chopped onion, and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and green chili, and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the pureed tomato, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt, cooking until the oil separates from the mixture.
  5. Mix in the cooked chickpeas and water, allowing it to simmer for 5-7 minutes to blend the flavors.
  6. Add the kadai masala and lemon juice, stirring well to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in chopped cilantro.
  8. Transfer the chickpea mixture to a baking dish and spread it evenly.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes until bubbly and slightly crisp on top.
  10. Remove from the oven, garnish with more cilantro if desired, and serve hot.
