Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 400 grams
  • Green peas - 100 grams (fresh or frozen)
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 1 inch, grated
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Breadcrumbs - 1/4 cup
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain, peel, and mash them in a large bowl.
  3. If using frozen peas, boil them for 5 minutes until tender. If using fresh peas, cook them in boiling water for about 5 minutes until soft. Drain and add to the mashed potatoes.
  4. Add the chopped onion, grated ginger, green chili, chopped coriander leaves, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  5. Form the mixture into small, round patties (tikkis) and coat each patty lightly with breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
  6. Place the tikkis on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Drizzle olive oil and lemon juice over the patties.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, flipping them halfway through for even cooking.
  8. Remove from the oven and serve hot with mint chutney or your favorite dipping sauce.
