Ingredients
- Potatoes - 300 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Whole wheat flour - 100 grams
- Water - as needed
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Black sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
- Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and let cool.
- In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until golden brown.
- Add the green chili and grated ginger, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Peel the boiled potatoes and mash them in a bowl. Add the sautéed onion mixture, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, salt, and fresh coriander leaves. Mix well.
- In a separate bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and a pinch of salt. Gradually add water to form a soft dough. Knead for a few minutes until smooth.
- Divide the dough into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and flatten it into a disc about 1/4 inch thick.
- Place a generous amount of the potato filling in the center of each disc, fold the edges over to seal, and gently shape into a round patty.
- Place the patties on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with olive oil and sprinkle with black sesame seeds.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
