Ingredients

  • Bajra flour - 100 grams
  • Ghee - 30 grams
  • Jaggery - 50 grams (grated)
  • Water - 500 ml
  • Almonds - 15 grams (chopped)
  • Cashews - 15 grams (chopped)
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Milk - 100 ml
  • Salt - a pinch

Steps

  1. In a pan, heat the ghee over medium heat and add the bajra flour. Roast it until it turns golden brown and gives off a nutty aroma, about 8-10 minutes.
  2. In a separate pot, bring 500 ml of water to a boil. Add the grated jaggery and stir until it dissolves completely.
  3. Once the bajra flour is roasted, slowly add the jaggery water to the pan while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and cook the mixture until it thickens, about 10-12 minutes.
  5. Add the milk, chopped almonds, cashews, cardamom powder, and a pinch of salt. Stir well and cook for an additional 5-8 minutes until the halwa reaches a pudding-like consistency.
  6. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving. Garnish with more chopped nuts if desired.
