Ingredients
- Bajra flour - 100 grams
- Ghee - 30 grams
- Jaggery - 50 grams (grated)
- Water - 500 ml
- Almonds - 15 grams (chopped)
- Cashews - 15 grams (chopped)
- Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Milk - 100 ml
- Salt - a pinch
Steps
- In a pan, heat the ghee over medium heat and add the bajra flour. Roast it until it turns golden brown and gives off a nutty aroma, about 8-10 minutes.
- In a separate pot, bring 500 ml of water to a boil. Add the grated jaggery and stir until it dissolves completely.
- Once the bajra flour is roasted, slowly add the jaggery water to the pan while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- Reduce the heat to low and cook the mixture until it thickens, about 10-12 minutes.
- Add the milk, chopped almonds, cashews, cardamom powder, and a pinch of salt. Stir well and cook for an additional 5-8 minutes until the halwa reaches a pudding-like consistency.
- Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving. Garnish with more chopped nuts if desired.
