Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 400 grams
  • Green peas - 100 grams
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece, grated
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Amchur (dried mango powder) - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Rice flour - 3 tablespoons
  • Oil - for shallow frying
  • Chaat masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 small, diced
  • Sev (crispy chickpea noodles) - for garnish
  • Tamarind chutney - 2 tablespoons
  • Mint chutney - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. Boil the potatoes until tender, about 15 minutes, then peel and mash them in a large bowl.
  2. In the same bowl, add boiled green peas, grated ginger, chopped green chili, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, salt, amchur, and rice flour. Mix well to form a dough.
  3. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each into a flat patty (tikki).
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Shallow fry the patties until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  5. Remove the patties and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  6. To assemble, place two patties on each serving plate. Top with chopped onions, diced tomatoes, cilantro, and drizzle with tamarind and mint chutneys.
  7. Sprinkle chaat masala and garnish with sev for crunch. Serve immediately.
