Ingredients
- Potatoes - 400 grams
- Green peas - 100 grams
- Ginger - 1 inch piece, grated
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Amchur (dried mango powder) - 1/2 teaspoon
- Rice flour - 3 tablespoons
- Oil - for shallow frying
- Chaat masala - 1 teaspoon
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Tomato - 1 small, diced
- Sev (crispy chickpea noodles) - for garnish
- Tamarind chutney - 2 tablespoons
- Mint chutney - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- Boil the potatoes until tender, about 15 minutes, then peel and mash them in a large bowl.
- In the same bowl, add boiled green peas, grated ginger, chopped green chili, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, salt, amchur, and rice flour. Mix well to form a dough.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each into a flat patty (tikki).
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Shallow fry the patties until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Remove the patties and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
- To assemble, place two patties on each serving plate. Top with chopped onions, diced tomatoes, cilantro, and drizzle with tamarind and mint chutneys.
- Sprinkle chaat masala and garnish with sev for crunch. Serve immediately.
