Ingredients
- Potatoes (boiled and mashed) - 300 grams
- Green peas (boiled) - 50 grams
- Onion (finely chopped) - 1 medium (about 100 grams)
- Green chili (finely chopped) - 1 small
- Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Rice flour - 2 tablespoons (for binding)
- Oil - for shallow frying
Steps
- Boil the potatoes until soft, then drain and let them cool before peeling and mashing them in a bowl.
- In a separate bowl, mash the boiled green peas and add them to the mashed potatoes.
- Add the chopped onion, green chili, grated ginger, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, salt, and fresh coriander to the potato mixture.
- Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined. If the mixture feels too wet, add rice flour for binding.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each portion into a flat round patty (tikki).
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the tikkis in the pan.
- Fry the tikkis for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the tikkis from the pan and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Serve hot with mint chutney or tomato ketchup.
