Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 400 grams (about 3 medium potatoes)
  • Chickpea flour - 3 tablespoons
  • Fresh coriander - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons (for grilling)
  • Water - as needed (about 2-3 tablespoons)

Steps

  1. Boil the potatoes in a pot of salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes, then drain and let them cool slightly.
  2. Peel the potatoes and mash them in a large bowl until smooth.
  3. Add chickpea flour, fresh coriander, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, red chili powder, salt, black pepper, lemon juice, and water to the mashed potatoes.
  4. Mix all the ingredients together until well combined. Adjust the water to achieve a firm but pliable dough.
  5. Divide the potato mixture into 6 equal portions and shape each portion into a flat, round patty.
  6. Heat a grill or non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of oil.
  7. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Add more oil as needed.
  8. Serve hot with mint chutney or your favorite dipping sauce.
