- Potatoes - 400 grams (about 3 medium potatoes)
- Chickpea flour - 3 tablespoons
- Fresh coriander - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Oil - 2 tablespoons (for grilling)
- Water - as needed (about 2-3 tablespoons)
Steps
- Boil the potatoes in a pot of salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes, then drain and let them cool slightly.
- Peel the potatoes and mash them in a large bowl until smooth.
- Add chickpea flour, fresh coriander, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, red chili powder, salt, black pepper, lemon juice, and water to the mashed potatoes.
- Mix all the ingredients together until well combined. Adjust the water to achieve a firm but pliable dough.
- Divide the potato mixture into 6 equal portions and shape each portion into a flat, round patty.
- Heat a grill or non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of oil.
- Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Add more oil as needed.
- Serve hot with mint chutney or your favorite dipping sauce.
