- Green chili - 1, slit
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh coriander leaves - for garnish
- Water - 1 cup
Steps
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat, add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- Stir in minced garlic, grated ginger, and slit green chili; cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt; cook until tomatoes soften.
- Add diced potatoes and mix well with the tomato mixture.
- Pour in 1 cup of water, cover the pan, and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes until potatoes are tender.
- Once cooked, sprinkle garam masala over the dish and stir gently.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
