- Potatoes - 300 grams
- Fresh methi leaves (fenugreek) - 50 grams, chopped
- Rice flour - 2 tablespoons
- Chickpea flour (besan) - 2 tablespoons
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Oil - for shallow frying
Steps
- Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, then drain and let them cool.
- Peel the cooled potatoes and mash them in a bowl until smooth.
- In the mashed potatoes, add the chopped methi leaves, rice flour, chickpea flour, green chili, grated ginger, cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a flat round patty (tikki).
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the tikkis in the pan.
- Fry the tikkis for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the tikkis from the pan and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
- Serve hot with your choice of chutney or sauce.
