Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 300 grams
  • Fresh methi leaves (fenugreek) - 50 grams, chopped
  • Rice flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Chickpea flour (besan) - 2 tablespoons
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Oil - for shallow frying

Steps

  1. Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, then drain and let them cool.
  2. Peel the cooled potatoes and mash them in a bowl until smooth.
  3. In the mashed potatoes, add the chopped methi leaves, rice flour, chickpea flour, green chili, grated ginger, cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
  5. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a flat round patty (tikki).
  6. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the tikkis in the pan.
  7. Fry the tikkis for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove the tikkis from the pan and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  9. Serve hot with your choice of chutney or sauce.
