- Potatoes - 300 grams
- Chickpea flour (besan) - 2 tablespoons
- Cilantro (fresh, chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Oil (for frying) - 4 tablespoons
- Yogurt (dairy-free) - 100 grams
- Tamarind chutney - 2 tablespoons
- Chaat masala - 1 teaspoon
- Onion (finely chopped) - 1/4 cup
- Tomato (finely chopped) - 1/4 cup
- Pomegranate seeds - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- Boil the potatoes until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and let them cool slightly.
- Peel the potatoes and mash them in a large bowl until smooth.
- Add chickpea flour, chopped cilantro, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, salt, black salt, and lemon juice to the mashed potatoes. Mix well until combined.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a flat patty (tikki).
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the patties in the pan.
- Fry the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- To serve, place two patties on a plate. Drizzle with yogurt, tamarind chutney, and sprinkle with chaat masala, chopped onions, tomatoes, and pomegranate seeds.
