Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 200 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 1/4 cup
- Fresh parsley - for garnish
- Lemon wedges - for serving
Steps
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture by wrapping it in a clean kitchen towel and placing a heavy object on top for about 15 minutes.
- Once pressed, cut the tofu into 1 cm thick slices.
- In a shallow bowl, mix together the olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Add the tofu slices to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Allow them to marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little more olive oil if necessary.
- Dredge each marinated tofu slice in all-purpose flour, shaking off any excess flour.
- Place the tofu slices in the hot skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden and crispy.
- Remove the tofu from the skillet and place it on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
- Serve the Vegan Saganaki hot, garnished with fresh parsley and alongside lemon wedges.
