Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 300 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Pita bread - 2 pieces
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Cucumber - 1/2 medium, diced
  • Red onion - 1/4 medium, thinly sliced
  • Tzatziki sauce - 100 grams
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and add them to the marinade. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. While the chicken is marinating, prepare the tzatziki sauce by mixing yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and dill in a bowl. Set aside.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated chicken pieces and grill for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until fully cooked and charred.
  5. Warm the pita bread on the grill for about 1 minute on each side until soft.
  6. To assemble the souvlaki pita, place grilled chicken pieces in the center of each pita, and top with diced tomato, cucumber, red onion, and a generous spoonful of tzatziki sauce.
  7. Sprinkle chopped parsley on top, fold the pita over the fillings, and serve immediately.
