Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour - 150 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Warm water - 100 milliliters
  • Active dry yeast - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Yellow bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh basil - a handful, chopped
  • Cherry tomatoes - 100 grams, halved
  • Black olives - 50 grams, pitted and sliced
  • Balsamic vinegar - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast, letting it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, and knead until a smooth dough forms.
  4. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 20 minutes.
  5. While the dough rises, prepare the roasted peppers. Toss the sliced red and yellow bell peppers with garlic, olive oil, dried oregano, and salt, then spread them on a baking sheet.
  6. Roast the peppers in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes until they are tender and slightly charred.
  7. After the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness and shape.
  8. Transfer the rolled-out dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Spread the roasted peppers evenly over the dough, then add the halved cherry tomatoes, sliced olives, and chopped fresh basil.
  10. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar before placing the tart in the oven.
  11. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
  12. Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve warm.
